N2-Sears Point-Champ Season problem ?

by Ron » Mon, 26 May 1997 04:00:00

I noticed someone else had posted on this subject but I had already
deleted the header. I just completed (or thought I did) my race at
Sears Point in the {Champ Season mode} and the race will not end or
save to completion in the stats. I tried several things including
"Accel.. Time" and saving/resuming race. Seems that the cars are just
stuck on the track and will not move. The accel time screen will show
the first 9 cars in the pit but all others still have the track time
listed. Also, the lap count shows on lap 75 of 74 ??? Accelerate time
is blinking as if the race is not completed. The caution flag is also
out as I had a little mishap on the final lap and I'm not sure if this
could have caused the problem with the lap count and non-finish or
not. Just curious if the other person that reported this problem was
under caution on the last lap also or if anyone else has experienced
this sort of problem.

Thanks,

Ron L.

Several people have experienced this including myself. The caution that
came out on your last lap happens to everyone. Then all the cars just mill
around the track. Are you running with a full field of 39 cars?? Somebody
had posted that they solved the problem by backing down the number of cars
to 36. I haven't tried this yet.

<But how can you change the number of cars in the race in the middle of
<the Championship Season?  Aren't you held to whatever the number was
<at the start of the season?

If you chose 39 opponents at the start of the season, it does not mean you
will race against 39 cars at every race. Certain tracks only allow so many
cars. I believe some of the tracks only allow 26 or 28 cars. You can set
how many cars you want at each track by editing the text file for each
individual track. For instance, Sears Point, if you open the SEARSPT.TXT
file you will see a line like     CARS 28 28

That is the number of cars which will start the race at that track, you
can change the number from anything from 0 through 39.

You'll also need to change this number in the PIT line to make the number
of pitstalls match up to the number of cars.

...........and don't forget that the pace car is counted in that total
number.
So if you want 39 cars, you'll have to enter '40'.

Yes, I had this same exact problem!  Did not find a solution for it.  It
happened to me under Quick Race, however, and not under Championship
racing.
