Fantastic demo. Having a blast in multiplay. Raced with Ed White and saw
Damien Smith and one or two other r.a.s. guys tonight. Only problem is I
can't use the mirror because of the frame rate hit. Is everyone finding the
mirror to be a big fps hit, and are there any settings that might lessen it?
I need that mirror! :-)

I have a P4 1600, GF3, 384megs XP so I should have pretty good fps. When I
race the AI or more than a few multiplayer opponents join, that's when I
have to turn the mirror off.

If I'm in multiplay I'm going to host races with the name "Ras" so hopefully
some of you will join up. Maybe we could all do the same. If it's
passworded, the password will be "ras" as well.

everything... mirror's no problem (though I'd like a hi-res option).

But this is indeed very promising.

With AI/multiplayer opponents and the mirror you are still getting high
frame rates?

Hmm...mirrors don't seem to cause a problem here..

XP1900+
Ti4600
WinME

getting between 50-100fps

What an impressive demo....replays, 28.8K multiplayer, nice graphics, superb
physics.  Can't ask for much more.  One 'net game I joined had 6 players and
it was very smooth.  The host said he was hosting on a 33.6K connection!

Only raced offline with four AI cars so far and I've noticed no frame rate

I cant get this run stable. I can sometimes get into the game engine itself
but mostly i get serious lockups and .dll errors. I have voodoo5 duron1000
and win XP. any ideas anyone?

It runs -liquid- smooth on mine too.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I just can't get my TSW2 to
work with the demo.  I switched back to combined axis, but it still doesn't
work.

Thanks,

Joel,

have you plugged in the "combined axis" cable *and*
recalibrated and chosen the right control set?

I have found it to be fairly framey, (could be my GForce 2 )but haven't
mucked with it much yet.
As far as it being better than GPL, IMHO it is no GPL.
The closest description of the Physics that I can come up with is a cross
between Toca 2 and F12002.
None the less it seems like not a bad SIM/Game.
The Graphics I would say are no less than Awesome Whilst parked next to a
rail, it feels like you could reach out and touch it. Being involved in a 3
car pile up, with barrels flying everwhere gave me more of a feeling that I
was actually there, than any other SIM/Game that I have ever experienced.
I finally got my 200 Credits and took the turbo out for a spin. This car
makes the Heart beat a little faster. The feeling of speed is scarey. I have
never seen a car in a SIM/Game that is so easy to spin out in. (even a GPL
car). But then again I still haven't had time to stuff with the car Setup as
yet so this could change.
One critisism is that the Car is made of ***, and seems to have no damage
model in the Demo. I assume this will change in the Full Version.
Normally I hate Tin Tops, But do yourself a favour if you haven't allready,
and give it a Download. If this performs Online as well as they are saying
it should be a lot of fun to say the least.

My System:

XP
P4 1.3G
256Meg
64 Meg GForce 2 MX

Hmmm... What framerate are you getting with AI on the track with you?  With
only 4 AI cars I'm getting mid 30's to mid 40's at 10X7 in-car with most
other options maxed (LOD's at default), but it drops into the upper 20's in
a couple of spots, particularly across the s/f line.  12X9 was too much, as
it was in the 20's way too often.

system specs:
XP1800/Abit KR7A/256mb
Ti 4400/Audigy
LWF (old style w/CH pedals wired in)
Win98SE (background prog's. shut down)

Overall, it's a bit buggy and the controller response seems a bit off to me,
but it's pretty impressive to have appeared out of nowhere.  Nice collision
detection with the AI; lots of fun to bump and rub in the turns.  How's that
aspect online, anyway?

The AI are pretty good, too. I tested them once by going too deep into T1,
purposefully  stuffing the guy in front of me with some door-to-door contact
and he reacted pretty much the way I would've; countersteered out of the way
and got back into it asap.  Plus, the AI car behind me took advantage of the
contact and my botched racing line to do the same to me just past the apex.
We headed three-wide into the chicane but the AI that stuffed me had the
line and stayed on it, forcing me to back off while the first one I'd
stuffed eased up and tucked right in behind us.  Going into the next right,
I outbraked the leading AI and went under him, drifting wide on my exit.  He
stayed wide, braked early and tucked in his line in an attempt to get back
under me on the exit just like I would have done in that situation.  Not
bad!

My framerates are playable (though it sounds like they should be a lot
better) with the AI and no mirror (30-50). With the mirror though, they drop
to the low 20's at various points on the track and max at mid 30's.

Something is obviously off with way the game is working with our systems.

Yeah, same here; the mirrors cost me about 15FPS.  Tried messing with the
LOD's but didn't get much from it.  My main problem at the moment is no
sound in MP from my Audigy card.  Appears to be a common thing.  Tried to
join in your RAS races but was only a danger to self and others without any
audio feedback... ;-)

Maybe next time,
