Yeah... it's out.  Not in North America of what I know though.  And
because of this... I downloaded me a copy.  So here's my review.

It's a chalanging game.  I wish I had the manual when playing it, cause
you need it.  The game is really thourough on what you have to do to
keep alive.  Really tough... always fighting for the best drivers...
sponcers... engines... etc.  But... there is some teriable planning in
the game.  If you are gonna watch a qual and race.  It's gonna take you
atleast 2hours on 150% mode.  And that ff mode doesn't help that much.
And when you hit the big ff button on the accelerated time screen... it
keeps you in ff mode and there's no way out.  It's a total pain in the
ass.  But otherwise it's a great game.  I like the graphics... 3d cars
on top of track photos, great idea.  Layout is fine.  Game play is
pretty good.  That last bit I said is so far my only complaint.

I'm totally ***ed to it. Has a few nuissances DjFil already explained. I
don't mind watching the whole race. It's part of the whole challenge.
Difficult, but very deep game!

When you first go into the FF screen with the driver list on the left,
stay there for a while WITHOUT hitting the FF button of no return!!
1st lap there takes about 15 seconds, 2nd about 10 seconds and
then the laps count off every 5-10 seconds after that....

It took me a while to notice this...

I don't mind watching the whole race but there are some significant
problems with the game which spoil my enjoyment:

  1) The other car AI is TERRIBLE.  If it rains they will usually stay
out until their scheduled stop - even if they're losing 6 seconds a lap
for 10 laps.

  2) As in every F1 manager game, you can send a car out with ZERO
petrol.  Can you imagine even Minardi doing this without some engineer
going "Um... don't forget the fuel chief" (or whatever the italian is
for that).  This is just basically stupid.

  3) The whole contracts thing is too open at the start.  As Stewart I
am inevitably dropped as a Customer team by Ford after the first race
of the first season.  Surely not realistic.

  4) The menu navigation is very poor.

  5) There seems to be something wrong with the lap times.  I've seen a
gap reported as three seconds which is taking up 1/4 of a lap on the
race display screen.

The game does have a lot of strong points though.  It's the best F1
management sim yet.

Nice game, but with bugs.

When one of your drivers in injured the test driver takes over. So far so
good, but:
- your injured driver can't do any testing. yet he is complaining about the
help he can offer with testing
- your temporarly promoted test driver suddenly thinks engine testing is not
good enough for him anymore.
- when negotiating with other drivers the menu screen get real confusing
with the injured driver photo being switched to the test postion but his
stats aren't.
- when winning the championship while injured your man doesn't get the
title!

It doesn't happen often, but when it does: An injured driver is a real pain!

I am probably doing something wrong - but in each race I get a Rear Wing
problem. It happens all the time... what can I do to prevent this.

Hmm... I only get this occasionally.  Do your cars have high wear or
do you have your drivers set on one of the "drive like maniac" options?

(I often get front wing damage if I set "do or die overtake" -
obviously since you're likely to smack into someone pressing that).

I set them to push but not the do or die thing. Everytime I set to do or die
they break something so Im not doing that anymore hehe...
But the rear wing is a real pain. I often have to pit several times during a
race to fix it. Sometimes I retire because of it - and on the pit screen it
says the ( rear wing ) problem cant be fixed

Hey there,

I don't even have the game (tho' it is sounding tempting), but wasn't there
another post which suggested that this might be due to engine vibration, or
kerb hopping?
