The "FF quits after 10-15 minutes of GPL" problem know to many Ferrari wheel
owners are IMHO related to the "Default Spring" setting in the control
panel.... I had it set to "Always on" at 20%, and had problems, but after
removing this option I just drove 3 hours with FF, no problems...
The only downside is that you have to get used to the new feel of the wheel
with the new settings. Try it out.

Actually, Mikkel, I think it's a problem know to a few FF wheel owners. Not
many, and not just Ferrari. Anyway, if you're used to the default spring and
like the feel, you might want to turn up the Damping Gain. It won't give you
the exact same feel, but it will add stiffness to the steering. It might
make it a little more tolerable for you.

I'm afraid it's not the default spring thing. I've always set it to OFF and
get the same problem. With me it only happens in GPL and F1 2000 and it's
pretty random. If I pause and switch the wheel on and of all is well again.
It doesn't seem to be just a Ferrari thing it seems to be a general I-force
problem. Lets just hope they sort us out some new drivers someday (Win2K
would be nice for a start)

New drivers that give proper effects even when you are not turning the wheel
would satisfy me.  Try driving over the grass or off the edge of the track
in GPL with the wheel steady vs. while you are turning the wheel.  You only
get the programmed effects when you turn the wheel--unlike with the MS based
wheels and drivers which provide the feedback that you expect, i.e., you
always feel the programmed grass bumpiness when you are on the grass.  It
would be nice to know what else is missing.

Solution to the FF problem with Guillemot Ferrari wheels

Hi,

That didn't fix it for me....
And apart from the force quiting after xx minutes...i also get other
weird stuff...
Force actually going to 100% after xx minutes of driving GPL...
( i drive with the gain at 100% but in the core.ini i have 400 for
max_steering_torque which reduced the force inGPL)...
And i also got the wheel spontaneously turning to the right...
I thought i was nuts...so i pulled to a full stop...turned the wheel
slightly to the right and it went all the way right by itself.
With all the above turning the wheel off and on again helps..
Love driving GPL and other sims with FF....but these bugs are getting
annoying..

cheers,
wsa
