Yep, this one looks good - and it may even beat GP2 to the shelves :)

They need to add features that GP2 doesn't have to make it sell well
though, eg weather effects, parade lap and pace car, paintkit, driver
editor etc. Let's hope they do - I'll email them with my thoughts - they
seem very receptive to ideas.

When will there be new things on your web page? I think i saw a post
from a few days ago that said in 10 days you would have movies and new
pictures... just wondering that will happen, I want to be the first to
see 'em !! :))

See you!

(With a P120 - 16 megs and really normal trident svga card (1 mb) can
I expect a good frame rate in svga with textures off on asphalt and
grass(and maybe sky) ?)

Thanks a lot

Just a word to tell you
that i finished the Starting Grid video
last night, now it's just a matter of transfer
time to have it on our web..

The video is MPEG without sound
and is 19MB big (ouch...)

It was shot in 320/200 on a 120Mhz
pentium. As the MPEG file is not
timebase encoded the frame rate
changes from pc to pc and by
no way reflect the frame rate of the
real program (20 f/s in this particular case).

Things you must consider regarding this video:

1.The shadows of the cars are nearly invisible
so the cars do not alway look as being on the
  track.
2.the track and views are not the best ones
to show how good our tracks are, but as we
don't have much time right now this is all
i can do at the momment.
3.Even if it is not the best videos we could do
we decided to post it anyway because of the
  many request we got.

4.Please do not flame us with remarks like
the mirror are ugly or stuff like that :-)

Any comments are welcome.

Why didn't you make it easier on us and just zip it into parts or as a
whole?

From Visiware site,I've Downloaded all files of the Starting Grid MPEG Movie.
These files are...

SGVID    A04     1,461,995  07-04-96 12:13p sgvid.a04

SGVID    A12        26,575  07-04-96 11:34p sgvid.a12
------------------------------------------------------

Then I tried to uncompress the files,
But a error occurs, like this.

===============================================================================

I downloaded the MPEG yesterday and had exactly the same error. Looks
like a problem with the .arj file when it was created? Anyone managed to
get this to work correctly?

Yep. You should extract the MPG with arj e -v -y sgvid. Then it will
work. Looks great, but i had trouble with the frame rate.

I think that you should use the -VA parameter of ARJ, like this:

E:\movies\sg>arj e -VA sgvid.arj

Thanks for writing.
I tried that command... hmmm, still the same error occurred.
I doubted the file crash, so I downloaded sgvid.arj once again,
but the result was same.

Can anyone solve this problem ???

I've downloaded the 4 first files only to discover that (maybe my
browser did it, netscape) all files were corrupted...

I think Visiware should make a movie a little smaller available or
many little movies because a movie that huge takes pratically too much
time to download...still I'd like to heard your comments on it if you
saw it.

thanks
