Rc2000 networking problems

by Tinke » Fri, 10 Dec 1999 04:00:00

After installing the patch (1&2) we are able to run & start a network game.
But only using either IPX or TCP/IP method.
Both running Win98 thru USR Sportsters. My PC setup as server, answers call
and connection set.
Problem is that once the rally starts, regardless of player settings, each
car is only & always in auto gears. and only one player has button controls
over lights, handbrake and view etc. The other has only steering &
brake/accel.
We both use Actlab RS wheels (no FF) set to 2 axis in the game.
Any ideas anybody??
Tried modem to modem, but the joining party can not initialise session (find
modem) yet when hosting it does find the modem.

Any pointers to tweak whatever to correct appreciated.

The auto-only and a few other bits are known bugs. Keep an eye on the forums
at www.simracingnews.com for more details.

As for the thing about losing controls, I got round that using the profiler
for my MSFF.
It seems that only game controller bindings are lost, not keyboard ones. If
you set the controls for handbrake, lights and viewchange to keys in the
game, then with the MSFF you can bind wheel button presses to keystrokes, so
for example pressing the light button on the wheel actually presses L on the
keyboard.
The software for the ACT labs wheel may have similar features?

Mike.

Thanks Mike,

Yep the ActLabs profiler does that also. Just my thick brain didn't make the
connection.
I'm keeping an eye on the forum also.

Hmm...
This is very interesting.  You are going to have to keep me updated
since I would love to be able to play the guys at work.
