Yes, I have it too. Doesn't seem to effect the actual game though, just
the initial menu screens. I'm using a Diamond Stealth, P100/430HX
Soundblaster 32 with a T2 wheel (yes, with the adaptor).
The demo allows use of the Subaru over a single
gravel/tarmac/mud/tarmac/gravel stage.
The graphics are excellent, right up there with Need for Speed. The
rendered cars look very nice indeed. I quite like the car handling, but I
don't like the lack of crashes if you go way off the track, there's just an
invisible wall like NFS.
I did notice that a lack of car response was caused by the full screen
(SVGA) setting. I much prefer the faster frame rate and more fluid
handling response I get by setting the view size to MIDDLE. Unfortunately
this size setting is ignored when using the in-car view.
The game deserves the high 80% reviews it's been getting, however I reserve
low 90's for ICR2, and what I've seen in the excellent Nascar 2 demo.
I have played the Screamer 2 demo and must say I prefer the RAC Rally
Champtionship. However the Screamer 2 demo is limited to a low res VGA
setting and does not allow tailoring of the view to get a better frame
rate.
Please can someone compare the full game to this 19MB pre-production demo.
I have seen Rally for 29.99 in Woolworths and 39.99 in *** Megastore in
Reading. My only hesitation with buying it is that I expect to be fitting
a Verite or Voodoo 3D card soon and this game won't make any use of them.
I expect rally will look pretty poor to the Verite ICR2 bundled with the
Intergraph card.
Maybee I'll wait till christmas and buy Nascar 2 instead!
Cheers,
Rob.
