Nascar 1 vs. Nascar 2?

by m.. » Wed, 14 May 1997 04:00:00

I'd like to know from those of you who have purchased <both> Nascar
Racing and Nascar Racing 2, if you think N2 is really worth the
purchase.  Is it <that> much of an improvement over the original game
as to be worth the extra money?  I have the opportunity to pick up the
track pack for N1 for $19, and I have downloaded carset97, so I'm
up-to-date carwise.  I hate the thought of just shelving N1!

Please bear in mind that I have a P100 (& Herc Dyn128vid), so I don't

Thanks for your opinions!

I would definetly buy Nascar 2.  The racing physics are MUCH better.
The tracks are  much better.

With a P100 you should be able to run with everything but GRASS and the
track texturing.  N2 seems to be a little more sluggish then N1, but it
is well worth the cost.  I can run N2 with everything ON with my K5
chip running at 133Mhz.  I'm not sure what a P100 will do.

It does have some bugs, but NONE of them are worth all the complaining
we've seen here.  It's patch has done a good job and only has a few
minor problems which I here are being worked on.

I have both games and haven't gone back to N1 since the purchase of N2.
I've had no problems whatsoever with N2.  I use it with a Voicemodem
so I can talk to my buddy when we race and haven't seen any Multiplayer
problems either.

buy both the track pack and n2. both games have their pros and cons.
in n2 you have a huge blind spot but you have a spotter talking to
you, you have more viewing area of the track in n1 but the graphics
are better in n2, some things you can adjust in n1 you can no longer
adjust in n2 like the amount of gas you start the race with or the
amount of gas you take on during pit stops or the amount of  (i think)
front spoiler (the spoiler is mandated by nascar__i think)........

really when you consider the price of the pc, and the t2 whats another
40 - 50 $. i have quite a few games i bought and discovered i didn't
like but you will never know unless you give it a try.  personally i
only play n1 when playing with somebody else (modem) who doesn't have
n2 yet. when both players have n2, we allways play n2.

Be prepared to spend more than $29 if you go with N2.  A lot more. If you
want
decent frame rate.

Intel p166
Bus Mastering motherboard
Reactor card

etc.  etc.

Really?  I have purchased a better system, but N2 was about 2
frames/second BETTER than N1 on my old P100 with Matrox Millenium.  If
you're happy with N1 frame rates, most people report a small improvement
or small loss.  You MAY be more e***d about the game, but then that IS
the goal here anyway, isn't it?

I have a P133, 32Mb of RAM and a 1Mb Diamond Video card and I get
terrific frame rates with ALL graphics on and 39 cars.
