Yes, same here.

Is dual booting an option John?

Nope. You have to have 98 on the machine *before* installing 2k,
otherwise, no dice.

Yep - knew that - but this is GPL we are talking about so don't go to bed
tonight and reinstall the whole darn thing with a dual boot. Then stay up the
following night and get that IGPS/4 web site set up. Then we get the old IGPSers
back together like a reformed rock band and hit the road.

Have my experience with stutter in almost every game, funnily enough mostely due
to different reasons:
GPL:
In my case the SBlive was the prob. But not the hardware, it was the driver
software. I got things under control by not loading the CD-version (this thing
is really buggy and you should clean out your registery), but the sblw9xup from
their website.
It is still not perfect, but acceptable.

Anybody knows where to find a fresher driver version?

About the OpenGL: There was an upgraded patch quite awhile ago, but this thing
doesn't work properly too with newer accelerators. AFAIK no workaround
available.

Son,
it's the SBLive CD-drivers.
Eliminate them from your system and only load the creative dl pack called
sblw9up.... (or so)
other option: throw away the sblive/

Where to download them? The drivers on their webpage are older than the
Flintstones.

>Make sure you've got the latest SBLive! drivers and then turn down the hardware

acceleration on the sound card.  A lot of people have found that affecting the
video output.  You may have to crank it all the way left before seeing any
result.

I disabeled both CD-Drives (Plextor Writer and Pioneer DVD) but it didn't
help.
How do I "eliminate" the SBLive CD-drivers and why do such drivers exist?
I mean, it's a sound card, why does it mess with my CD's????

Ohhh.... I guess you meant the drivers from the CD that came with the card?
I didn't install them. I downloaded the latest XP drivers.
There was some talk about the SoundBlaster drivers wanting to access the CD
drives all the time.

Sorry,
I meant the retail SBlive drivers coming on a CD with the card.
What I also forgot to mantion, I'm still on Win98 SE and cannot speak for XP or
WIN2000.
Anyhow: I uninstalled the drivers using windows control panel and then removed
everything creative-related I could find from the registry.
If you boot up the PC after that and Windows doesn't recognized the sblive by
name, you made a good job.

Then install the sblw9up...  thingie from the creative website.
