I am interested in participating in a Offline racing series...  relative
newcomer, anyone care to suggest any that might be fun, competative and
also easy for a novice to get into??

There are 2 leagues, 1 for Nascar 1 that my team mate from last year &
I are running this year, one for N2 that is run by Tim Wortman.

  Check out the United Shorttrack Alliance.  We start in April; *you* set your
own opponent strength (according the rules and at a reasonable strength of
course); and we run nothing longer than 100 laps (on short tracks).  Most
races are 30-40 laps in length; only the All-American 100 at Nashville is over
50 laps.
