Now there's a plan :)

|
| After taking so long to get to the bottom of it, I'm dreading adding any
new
| components or installing any new games. Maybe I'll just leave the rest of
my
| 28G of space free and just play GPL and N4. <g>

For consistent control of the car you *really* need to run at 36fps *all
* of the time! And this is *essential* for good on-line racing.

I run my Athlon 650 (clocked at 900) at 1000 x 800 and GPL is very
stable at 36fps with detail slider about half way and most graphics and
some effects (skid marks and smoke) turned *on*. Pc also has 256Mb pc133
ram and V3 2000 card (clocked at 170).

I also run my other pc, Celeron 300a (clocked at 450) at 800 x 600 and
also maintain a very stable 36fps, with detail slider about 1/3rd and
some graphics on, and *no* effects turned on. Pc also has 128Mr pc100
ram and V3 2000 card (clocked at 170)

Frame rate is way more important than the games graphics looking good.
turn down the graphics detail, turn down the no' of sounds, and turn
down the number of AI to ensure you get 36fps.

I have this info and lots more on how to optimise your pc for GPL (and
other games/sims) on my webpage (no ads or banners), go to:

or see url below, and go to the GPL section for more info....
