Anyone heard of a new PC game being developed, titled Grand Prix Legends?
All I've heard is it is supposed to be based on 1967 cars, drivers and
tracks.
Maybe by Microprose?  I could have the title wrong too.

It's being made by Papyrus, who just recently released an AVI of Dave
Kaemmer and Matt Sentell taking a quick lap around Monza.  It's a replay
from an external camera, but you can still get a pretty good feel for
the car dynamics.  Notice how the car reacts to Dave's (he's in the lead
for most of the lap) more aggressive driving (bottoming out as he enters
the turns, four wheel drift, etc.):

I got a chance to sit down and play a pre-alpha version the other week,
and even in that form there isn't another game that even remotely comes
close.  If your news server keeps old messages for a while, take a look
back at my recap on 11/22 entitled 'WOW, Grand Prix Legends is
amazing!'.

You might want to go back and make some corrections on some of your
earlier rumors.  One notable example is Nov 1st's about Direct3D only.
Papyrus is using Direct3D, however its in addition to Native Rendition
and 3Dfx ports.

In 1967 very few (if any (Chapman ??)) knew a great deal about  low speed
compression nor rebound adjustments. I belive things like that didn't
comeabout until Koni released their grond-breaking 2801 (??) shock series.
I really doubt you'll see any sort of settings in GPL. I do however expect
it to be possible to adjust the following: Springs, shocks, tire-pressure
(dunno if we'll get any temp. readouts), fuel, camber and gearing. In
addition i would love to see castor/caster, tire-type (dimension, make, etc)
and rake or ride-heigth.

Just my 0.02 of course.

That wouldn't be very realistic though, since high and low speed
damping, bump ***s etc were either non-existent or a not easily
adjustible part of the car setup in that era.

I also like the infinite possibilities offered by GP2, but I wouldn't
like to see this being a part of GPL. It would be a bit like having
telemetry in it, very useful but not at all realistic.

Cheers!
