It's a pretty cool game.  Driving is loads of fun 'cause you can toss the
car around...it's funny to watch someone who doesn't understand how
helpfull the brakes are in getting around a turn.  In Ridge Racer, you
can approach a turn, tap the brakes and turn.  The back end comes around
and you can power out of the turn with some fun opposite lock.  The sim
is a bit forgiving (ie there are a bit of arcade qualities) but my only
complaint is...it cost $1.00 (us) to play...and it doesn't last any longer
(probably less) than Virtual(al) Racing...

These are my personal opinions.

Well, since we seem to be taking Ridge Racer as a car sim, I was wondering
if any of you have any tips for Virtua Racing, I just discovered it last week
and I can tell that it is going to become an expensive habit!  I am pretty
good at F1GP on the PC, but I can't sem to get to grips with the handling
in VR, what is the best view, I usually use the just behind and above view,
but there is little impression of speed so is the in car view better.  Also
should you left-foot brake, or use the right foot, any tips much appreciated,
think of all the money you will be saving me!

Expensive (75 cents) but very fun. Very realistic as far as 4-wheel
drifts around turns. Intermediate and above levels are more fun than
 the novice course.

        VR is a wonderful multi-player game (I've already tried a six-players
version which is very "money-eating"). But the animation and scenery are
        much better in ridge-racer.

I always use the in car view, considering that it is more realistic.

I use the right foot to brake. But... I don't use it a lot !

I wish VR used real courses.  Now that I know the right lines for all 16 tracks
I would love to be let loose on a machine that has the graphical power.  The
only track I found interesting was the Acropolis one.  I also found VR didn't
really reward proper F1 driving technique (late braking, slipstreaming).

I've tried it and had a great time. One of the best things about it is
the music; some great hard-core (or whatever the current nomenclature is) tracks.

One technique I see a lot, to get 'round the corners without lifting, is
to repeatedly jerk the 'wheel in the direction of a turn and back
again quickly. It sure as hell ain't any real driving technique I know
but it works.

To extract the most fun from this game find 5 mates and race them.
