I'm sorry, but I have to disagree.  You're still in shock and have not yet
to appreciate the similar but more youthful talents of James Allen.  He is
not quite as good as Murray, but a little more practice is something he has
not had the option of having.  Unfortunately, there hasn't really been
another Formula 1 commentator in GB since the championship started, so where
could one learn this particular craft?  The formula is still correct:
enthusiastic commentator and expert summariser, the same formula you will
see in any sport.  James Allen is very enthusiastic and deserves to keep the
job. (Although, Murray never went on about bleeding pitstops quite as much)

In short, I think that James Allen will be as good as Murray in the long
run.

| I know that they have to rely on the Japanese director for camera
| changes, replays, etc.,   which was just dismal.  Did Rubens overtake
| Montoya on lap 2(?), only to lose the place almost immediately?
| Dunno.  Did Ralph cross the white line out of the pits?  Dunno.
|
| As for James Allen taking over from Murray; all I can say is, F1 will
| never be the same again.  And that is BAD. :-(

Even though I'm as big or even bigger fan of GP bike racing as I am an
F1 fan, I just have to say two things:

1. Only a truly warped mind would put survival cells as a bad thing. I
was about to put it a little bit stronger than that, but stopped
myself.

2. GP bikes has had carbon disc brakes for 10 years or so.

James Allen is enthusiastic, of course, or he wouldn't have been up
for the job.  But the suggestion that he will be as good as Murray;
that remains to be seen.  Mr Walker has, without a doubt, more
enthusiasm than any other British (and perhaps worldwide?) motorsport
commentator, and his knowledge is huge, challenged only by those who
have already been at the forefront (i.e. Brundle).

James Allen has A LOT of homework to do, or at least get many years of
commentary under his belt, before he can display as much knowledge as
his predecessor.
