    to some extent yes...the needs of a corparate pc user are far different
from an online gamer.  About a year or so ago, an IT guy was going nuts cuz
some folks here, me included, recomended fixing the swap file rather than
let windows manage it.  In a corporate world, his posisition was sound, but  
gamers often push the envelope and work/play outside the 'safe' conditions
an IT type person would prefer.

Yea, but he is right. There is very little to be gained by making the swap
file fixed. I've tried the swap file in every possible configuration and
have just seen no benefit to making it fixed in any games. Sometimes gamers
take the tweaking route too seriously.

Yes, it's a carry-over from the old Win95 days where people were trying to
play games with 16MB of RAM and sometimes tweaking the swap file had a
(barely) noticeable effect.  On today's PCs it's a redundant tweak.
