GPL track install problems

by Rick Gowe » Sun, 10 Nov 2002 08:45:58

I have installed GPL, patched to version 1.2. Downloaded solitude from
GPLEA. It didn't install all by itself, I had to add an entry to both gp.ini
and 67season.ini in the seasons directory. All is well, except that when I
now go to Watkins Glen, the game crashes me back to the desktop! I am using
WinME for what it is worth. Have I missed somewhere else I need to update?

Thanks for all help in advance,

Rick

Rick, usually a crash like that is induced by a change in carset.

If you haven't changed your carset, I would look at whether you got all the
numbers to correspond in your 67season.ini

First, all your track entries must have consecutive numbers, i.e. Event1,
Event2, Event3, and so on.

Second, in the fourth line at the top of the 67season.ini file,
"numEvents=xx", the "xx" must equal the number of the last "EventX" in the
ini file.

If those things aren't right, you won't be able to load a track to run a
race.

The gp.ini must follow those rules, but only come into play if you are
trying to run a GP year sequence of races.

I've included a sample clipped from my 67season.ini file:

===

[Season]
name=All Tracks In Alphabetical Order
Year = 1967
numEvents=11

[Event1]
[Season]
name=All Tracks In Alphabetical Order
Year = 1967
numEvents=11

[Event1]
name=Hallands Grand Prix
shortname=Hallands GP
trackDirectory=falken
month=8
day=6
numberOfLaps=150
startingGrid=4

[Event2]
...
[Event3]
...
and so on...

===

Good luck. Ask again if this isn't clear, or if you are unable to get your
problem fixed.

Chris.
