How do frame rates compair to Nascar 1?

I have Nascar 1 . I use a P90 w/16 megs RAM Stealth 64 PCI w/4meg VRAM.
With most of the graphics off I get silky smooth action. For you folks
that have both N1 and N2 how do they compair? Do I have the horsepower
to get a smooth framerate in N2? IS the N2 game engine "better" with N2.
I've read some post here that seem to indicate  better graphics hardware
is required to get the same framerate as with N1.  Thanks in advance Erv

In my testing, I saw about a 2 FPS increase between N1 and N2 (N2 was
better).  That is based on the Multi version of NASCAR1 but I dont think
there is any difference in frame rate between Multi and regular.

I find the 3D engine is improved, but N2 has more graphics, so its
a wash.  With both N1 and N2 running in SVGA with all graphics options
on, I get similar frame rates (although N2 is showing a much richer
track environment).  BTW, frame rate was around 10 fps on a P133 under
max load.  Rendition-DMA mode on an Intergraph Reactor improved this
by ~30%, so its a worthwhile addition.

10fps - yuck!!  I have your exact hardware - except my CPU was a 120 Mhz
and the MB is a SuperMicro 55CMS.  The frame rates from N1 to N2 dropped
with this configuration.  I found N2 unusable with a P120 and I now run a
P200 - which also boosts the bus clock to 33mhz.  Now I do not notice any
real difference between N1 and N2 - except the richer graphics.  By the way
- when I say that N2 unusable - I find frame rates much below 30fps to be
unacceptable.

My advise - bump the CPU to at least a 133 - which at cheap these days - if
you want to run N2.
