Make an image of the CD with CloneCD.
Then, use DaemonTools to mount the Image as a Virtual CD.
Enable the SecuRom emulation in Daemon Tools.
Now you can install the game and run it from the Image just like you had the
real CD in the drive. Put the original away for safe keeping.

I've been using it for months and have absolutely no problems, more stable
than Win98 SE ever was.

I think you will find very little actually different between me and se.
Both are based on win98, me does have the recover features, but aside from
some newer drivers, what else is there to recomend it?
Changing os's just for the sake of change seems a-bit on the extreme
side...until there is a clear need to change, why do it?
For example, most people upgraded from win95 because of 3 reasons...better
internet connection support, better USB support, and the Internet connection
service that allowed home networks to c0nnect.
But what features does ME have that make it a 'must have'?

I'd like to say I can wholeheartedly recommend upgrading for you, but, some
people are reporting problems with ME.
I back up all my important data regularly, so a reformat is no big deal to
me, however I seem to recall you saying you have many gigabytes of data on
your HD that would be a PITA to reinstall, so it would be a pretty major
headache if all doesn't go to plan.
I don't know if you have more than one PC, but if you do and one is less
vital, it may be worth giving WinME and Win2k a go on that one, after all,
you've already made the outlay for the upgrades.
Of course, you may just be a chicken <VBG>

| Thom, I've got two PC's here.
| One is Win 2000 only, the other is Win 2000 and WinME dual boot. I have no
| problems with either (except I can't get modem drivers for the Win 2000
only
| machine, but that's irrelevant because with Win 2000 I can easily use
| Internet connection sharing)
