Based on SCGT, eh?  Interesting re-use of an old game engine.  Decent
enough physics, but no 3D***pit or in-cockpit motion.  It should
sell like hotcakes through retailers like Wal-Mart.  Another
Infogrames slam-dunk.

The sarcasm is dripping off that post John. :)

My main worry is that SCGT has no real online multiplayer to speak of, so
while I will most likely get this game to support more sim developement of
NON-Nascar based sims, short track stock car racing in particular, I don't
think this is going to rank even on the level of DTR. Speaking of which, if
you did want to license an engine. Why wouldn't you go for the DTRSC engine
or the HEAT engine. Either of these would have been better choices,
mutliplayer problems aside. I mean at least those games have decent online
support, a little tweaking and tey each could be brought to the level of the
Papy games.

Just my thoughts,
Brit

Can't recall the "developer," but they're re-utilizing the SCGT game
engine for this one.  A good game engine in its time, and it will
certainly be cool to see some new oval tracks and such, but this
doesn't represent any real sim-racing advance unless you're a real fan
of short ovals.

LOL!  My guess is that the "developer" saw that there were more
talented amateurs/semi-professionals/professionals capable of working
with the wide-open SCGT engine (which ISI probably was able and
willing to license out for a very reasonable fee) than there are
talented amateurs/semi-professionals/professionals who are capable of
working with the more-restrictive NASCAR Heat game engine.  Plus, MGI
is still working with the Heat engine for PS2 and X-Box applications,
so they may not be at liberty to license out its use for non-NASCAR
products.

As for the DTR engine, I would say that the meager licensing fees
weren't attractive enough to entice Ratbag into creating their own
competition in a market that they currently already own (i.e., short
track oval racing).

:-D
