How come I don't see any reviews for NROS on here yet....  I though that
since weve all been waiting for the debut for so long that I would here
something...... so far I see nothing...   How is it...  can you see everyone
or is it unplayable?  Is it fun or have we been waiting so long that all the
hype has disapated?  Just asking....

Well, coming from someone whose machine does not even meet the recommended
requirements, here's my short review.....

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaawawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!

I was completely correct in my assumption that this would be the best thing
since sliced bread.... it totally RoCks!!
All my fears of cars wildly jumping across the screen were quickly put to
rest by 99,999% solid gameplay.... the enabler file for this game must have
some pretty strong magic involved , because I only experienced three lil
warps over a period of 6 races I was in, and three of those races were with
a field of 20!!
of course, there were the expected first day glitches... and of course,
some folks who apparently have never run N2 under win95 were getting their
rude awakening... heck, I even saw a couple of "keyboard wonders", and the
"1st turn furballs" at Talladega .
the carset you play with.....yeah, it's a little bland, and a few were
dissapointed that they couldnt use their own cars... but the ones who bit
their tongue and went on into the races didn't seem to mind one little bit
when they went to passing cars  :)

a few had troubles getting the files, and getting everything ready....
but I'm sure thaht once they get it right, they'll be happy too...
and a few had connection problems.... heck, I had an excellent connection
most all night, even better with my own isp (Mindspring),
than with TEN's local dialup numbers...
but that's just the nature of the net...

overall, an Excellent rating from this player...
Once I upgrade, and get the recommended cpu speed going on, I will probably
just move my refrigerator next to my computer, and keep a bedpan handy, and
then I'll never have to stop racing...

YEs it's really good. Better than racing on hawaii with a 14,4 (for me at
least). And 100x better than racing on Kali with 28,8.

PS. I use NETCOM too

Because everyone's been to busy racing on it. It is great. No rendition
yet, but it is coming soon(week or 2 I hear). So that means turning off
some of the eye candy, but who cares. I've run 4 races so far with one
win, one pole, a 5th, and 2 top tens. The bandwidth limits were a little
too tight, but they are relaxing them.

Two hints...force 19.2k and turn off error correction on your
modems...you will get better connects. I don't have a concentric line
available around here, but my provider "seems" to be holding up pretty
good...

Time to go back and race...

2 tips for you:

1. Use password protected races and whisper the PW to others.
2. Muzzle users that you don't want to race with.  Not only will you not
see their annoying chat, but they also will be unable to join any race
you nominate.

I got on the NRO last night for two races..Michigan and Dega. It was
absolutely wonderful. I'm on an isdn line and had one disappearing cars act
for half a sec during the Michigan race. Everything else was rock solid.
You can hit the "t" key to type during a race just like in Nascar1. You use
their car set. When i get to a race my latency was listed at .03 and
.05...cool! Just a little info.

  Hi,
If you have a good connection it's everything you hoped for. It's
smooth and on par with Hawaii at it's best. At worst, with a mediocre
connection it can be no better than Kali. I've driven with an excellent
to good connection and saw no warping with 20 cars. And I have driven
with an unstable connection and watched cars disappear completely,
warp behind me and reappear wrecked in front of me.
The TEN dialups seem to work great, though last night I had an
unstable connection through it.
I have two ISP's and neither cuts the mustard there even with all
the setup tips from the TEN newsgroup...19.2 and error correct off.
A lot of folks there have great connections (you can check their
connections) and are in Hogg(Harry) heaven. Some of us are going to
struggle getting good connections. Concentric seems to give out
great connections as advertised though a few folks are complaining.
Taladega still stands as the most offered track, afai can tell.
All in all it's what we've waited for, and it lives up to the hype,
IF you have the connection.
The newbies and wreckers are there. I just did a race a C***te
( didn't notice NO damage AND Yellows) WE spent 14 of 17 laps yellow
and I went from third on the last lap on yellow to ninth when the
folks behind me decided to turn the final yellow lap into a crashfest.
I ended up dq'ed because they pushed me across the s/f line before
the lead car ( who was being pushed the other way). Watch out for those
guys. Ahhh but you can "muzzle" the wreckers and keep them out of your
races.. a great feature.
Sorry for the length. Go to go find an ISP now.
Regards,
Gavel

I think it's because everyone is online racing <g>
From my perspective, it is awesome, I consider it much better than Hawaii
as far as stability and warping. Lot of folks on there, c'mon in <g>

Yeah, but how do you get rid of it? It stayed on for a whole race at
martinsville for me?

Yes TEN does work better than Kali, the client software is what makes
the difference.

Technically it's the other way around.

The server software, and the server hardware, and the server internet
connection is what makes the difference.
