OPEN LETTER to Papyrus

by will maxwe » Tue, 09 Apr 1996 04:00:00

This is just a short letter to ask the guys a Papyrus to continue
supporting Indycar I.  I am probably going to get alot of flak for
this attitude but I don't care.  I have upgraded my computer for
several years to play simulators.  I have several flight sims and
racing sims and I think they are the only games worth playing.
However I am not buying another game or video card until the next
generation of 3D video cards come out I have read that they will
support texture mapping. When these come out I will go to the computer
store and buy Indycar 3 4 or 5 only if it supports on of these "new 3D
cards".  In the meantime I really enjoy Indycar 1 with one exception,
and I have seen this mentioned here before and it is so annoying that
I hardly play the game at all anymore.  It is the BUG that causes your
opponents to almost stop in the turns.  I am tired of being two laps
up on the entire field only to rearend some idiot 10 laps before the
end of the race.  I encourage other like minded ICR1 users like myself
to add to this thread and show Papyrus that they AND all software
companies MUST continue to support products after the release of the
sequel.  There are people who can't afford the latest greatest
everything needed to run the latest greastest game!  NOW PLEASE
CONTINUE TO SUPPORT ICR1 AND WRITE A PATCH FOR  IT!!!!!!

Thanks for listening

Nice try, and I agree with you(I can't run ICR2 well on my system).  I really
don't think it'll matter much if Papy has already decided not to support it.
I mean, would you expect them to support INDY500?  The game is over 5 years
old.  From a business standpoint, where do you draw the line?

I am NOT paranoid.  And why are you always watching me?!?

I agree with continued support. I am also very disappointed that all of
the internet races have moved to ircii and will not support irci. I am
not going to buy ircii because the difference between the two is very
little (I have a 486 dx2/66...sorry, I can't afford a pentium).

As for being two laps up on the feild...It's been awhile since I've
played irci but if the option is there to raise the computers AI use it
and the race is much more fun and challenging.

Race on and may your engine never fail

Hmmmm which from what I read is also an incomplete program with people
whinning for a patch.  Also I don't consider 80 bucks reasonable for a
patch I paid a lot of money for my ICR stuff I have all of it.  The
expansion packs et all.  If you think I am going to spend anymore
money at Papyrus just to be let down again you  and Papyrus are crazy
they have lost me as a customer someone will beat them with a better
properly tested product and me and my wallet will be there.

Well, the way I see it, it's called progress.  Of course, with your
mentality,  they would have just updated Indy500 and never came out
with  ICR1.   Move up or be left behind!

Go #6 Mark Martin,#16 Ted Musgrave & #99 Jeff Burton - Jack Roush Racing!!

That was MY reply to him...'where do you draw the line?'  I'm not too crazy
about ICR2 either, but I can't do anything about it... :(
