Try adding the usual -d3d0 to the command line. (that's a zero at the end).

NFS: High Stakes Demo is out!!!

>I'm glad they've finally added car damage to the game.

Agreed. It really changes the whole gameplay. Gone are the days of
bouncing off a gaurdrail as the fastest way around a corner. And in
career mode you have to PAY for the damage as well (not to mention
purchasing the car in the first place). It makes you approach the game
differently and drive more carefully.

NFS: High Stakes Demo is out!!!

From what I gather (in other words: may be correct, may not), it was the
FIRST generation 911 Turbo that was so hard to drive (1980-198x) due to
turbo lag. The latest model is supposed to be much easier to drive.
Especially with AWD. The original 911 turbo's were RWD. Also, the turbo lag
has been greatly reduced.

Is there a tentative release date for the actual game itself? I was
going to buy NFS3, but maybe I'll wait for High Stakes if it will be
released in a month or two. What are the computer requirements?

I would wait - especially since NFS4 contains all NFS3 tracks as well
as the new tracks.
