Painting Cars in IRC/NASCAR

What do you artists use to paint cars in ICR II and NASCAR Racing?
It sure can't be PaintKit, which, particularly for small details,
seems to be almost useless. I tried exporting a car and painting it
in Corel Photo-Paint. It looked pretty good there (considering my
very limited abilities), but when I imported it back into NASCAR,
the colors weren't even close! Any tips or suggestions would
certainly be appreciated. Thanks, Ron Scott

Hmm, I designed a Heineken indycar using Autodesk Animator Pro and the
Pain(t)kit. Anipro can imoport PCX pictures, but saves only GIF so
you'll have to use the ANICONV program to convert back to PCX.

I DO use Paintkit however to make small adjustments and to try out
little things. I agree it's quite limited especially when you're using
stamps. Anipro or even the normal Animator(which is very cheap
nowadays) will handle stamps just fine.

I encountered these problems with many Windows-based Art packages. It
seems that a lot of these programs remap the colors of the pcx files to
their own taste, but Paintkit only works when colors are mapped exactly
as used in the game. You could try to save the palette of the imported
picture, but I do not know if that will work.

My advice : stick to one of the Animator packages. They're simply the
best 256-colour drawing programs around. I don't know about
Autodesk Animator Studio for Windows though. The version I have doesn't
run under Dosshell'95.

Here you go
