TOCA Editor: does it work??

I've been trying to make it work on two similar machines, only to find that
it is a 'resource hog'; after loading allcars.bfp, the machine resources
drop to below 20%, and then it is time for the three-finger salute. The
author does not answer my e-mails....

BTW, the machines in question are:

PII 266, MonsterII 8Mb and Screamin 3D (Rendition 1000), Windows 98.
PII 400, MonsterII 8Mb and S3 Virge 375, Windows 98.

I think resource-hog is an apt description of this "program". I haven't
been able to do anything with it either. So now it lies in file 13. So
much for the big tease. It seems like a waste of bandwidth (during the
download), and a waste of time (trying to use it). Another apt
description that comes to mind is: bogus.

Later...

Duh, that would make, say, a dozen reboots in order to accomodate the
windows names, all the graphics... at least one hour only in reboot time..
No, thanks......

It works for me, P233, 96 meg ram but I usually restart it after
importing 2 new graphics.
Anymore than that it kills the pc.

Now where are the new AUDI's?????

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world when people didn't complain about things
they
were given FREE. A guy busts his ***to give us all something to improve
the
games/sims that we have and all you can do is whinge.... If you don't like
it,
can it. You don't need to "slate" it publicly

Maybe you guys will be happy when nobody produces anything for free.

BTW I have used this app succesfully, added in new graphics, and the only
problem I had was one of the cars had square wheels so I replaced it with
the
original, and everything is fine.

Rob is working on fixes and improvements all the time. It's been a very
successful product and I imagine he absolutely snowed under with queries and
requests. Rob has provided it completely free of charge. What TEdit does is
complicated and Rob is working without any documentation at all.

A guy can strain his ass off to give me a smelly new turd; but a turd is
a turd, I don't want it. By the way, the correct way to spell it is
"whine". Let me further expound on the subject, this is a newsgroup, try
to accept the bad with the good, so try to hold your whining in if you
don't like to hear whining. All I'm saying is, the thing simply doesn't
work for me. Isn't that what the guy asked? Too bad you're so
thin-skinned. Sheesh!

I am using Win95. Rob.

I had this problem with the FIRST version of the editor. Since I
imported all the car graphics with it, I haven't had a need to use
Beta 2 to import graphics.
I did use the second beta to export a file, so it does work.
That's why I asked if anyone had the Audi done..

I'm glad you qualified my statement to Cloner, I did say restart the
program NOT REBOOT the pc.

Personally I'm glad we have an editor to update the cars.
If these other guys do not appreciate it, they can continue using what
they have.

Constructive criticism is a lot more helpful to you than some of the
posted comments.
