Help with PlayStation F1 !

Hi,

Is anyone having the same problem as me?

I am playing a championship season under Grand Prix mode, medium
difficulty, auto gears, damage on, 10% race distance.

Everything is fine, I have practised until I am now able to usually
qualify in the top 5 and can push hard for the lead in a race UNTIL
THE LAST LAP.

On the last lap (or occasionally towards the end of the previous lap)
the performance of the car goes off to such an extent that the car
cannot take any acceleration at all around corners. The last race I
ran was Hungary, I was leading until the last lap upon which I lost
over 50 seconds and finnished about 15th. I simply span the car on
almost every corner.

Anyone any advice ?

Phil.

Well this may not be the cause of your problem, but if you've got
tire wear turned on (I seem to remember this being a seperate setting
from damage, but I may be wrong - this is from a very poor memory),
then with short races the tires go off BADLY in the last couple of laps
or so causing the car to slide all over the place.

I did a full season with exactly the same settings as you and never
had any problems.  I won the championship quite convincingly.
I have even done several full distance races on the hard level with
reasonable success.

Oh yeah if you win the championship you will get access to the bonus
track, Frameout City.

At last-it's happened to someone else - same happened to me on a 25% race in
Championship mode, full season-I was at Monza,15s ahead of Alesi on the last
lap when on the long straight his Ferrari sailed past me into the
distance.Same happened at Monaco when, would you believe it,Hakkinen passed me
on the last lap despite me leading for 8 laps and taking a 14s lead into the
final lap.I'm now getting seriously pissed off with this happening and am
considering if it is worthy starting a 100% full race distance for the winter
season if this carries on.But what can we do?

I have already posted on this thread but I should have added that
I have done full race distances at tracks Spa and Suzuka with little
obvious tyre wear.  Pitting at one third distance at Suzuka showed
about 300% tyre wear and my fastest lap was quite early in the stint
but I wasn't all over the place.
I, however, use a neGcon controller which may easy wear with the
analogue steering, throttle and brakes.
