LFS and Windows Desktop Icons

by bertr » Tue, 15 Oct 2002 10:35:08

Unlike everyone else in this NG, who I'm sure keep a neat-as-a-pin
Windows desktop (Yeah, right), I have LOTS of icons on my Windows 98SE
desktop.  I have them arranged just like a I want'em too.

Unfortunately, every time I exit from LFS, it moves all of my icons
around, so I have to put them back where I want 'em again.  To say the
least, this is a PITA!

Can anyone shed some light on this phenomenon?  Is there some Windows
setting that I need to activate or something?

Thanks!

Bert

Don't use desktop icons.  Use the Quicklaunch bar and the start menu for all
of your needs.

I'm just guessing here....but....

It's probably the difference in resolution
between your desktop and LFS.

I understand that LFS is beta, maybe
it doesn't restore your desktop resolution
properly.

My desktop is 1280x960 and if a
game crashes at 1024x768, then it
does the same thing.

Maybe run LFS at your desktop res....

Good luck with it....

If you really want to fix the problem, try disabling all windowed options in
LFS...

Yeah, that's exactly what I was going to suggest! It's probably going back
to the desktop when doing multiplayer connect in window mode, and not at
their regular resolution, so icons are getting rearranged.
