Nascar 98

Hit the skids with Electronic Arts' racing game

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Genre: Racing

Release: Fall 1997

We've seen Playstation pics aplenty, but nothing Saturn specific regarding
Nascar 98 from Electronic Arts. And though the Saturn version is still not
ready for preliminary showing, we've got some information to tide you over
until we get our hands on the game.

With the NASCAR license comes all the t***s: 11 official tracks (along
with 6 original designs) and 24 real drivers from the NASCAR circuits, not
to mention car designs that mirror the drivers' actual vehicles.

Realism seems to be a key factor in the design of NASCAR 98. The computer
AI has been programmed with each of the driver's aggressiveness (or
lackthereof), and teammates will assist each other in the competition.
Draft your car behind racemates to eliminate drag and increase speed, and
don't forget to tweak your car's setup in the garage and pits to gain that
extra MPH or two.

In-game play-by-play is provided by Bob Jenkins, "the Voice of NASCAR".
Engine, pit and crowd sounds were recorded at Atlanta Motor Speedway and
Darlington International Raceway to give that extra flair of realism.

There's also word that the game will support the plethora of analog
controls. Be they the Arcade Racer, 3D pad, or even the Mission Stick,
you'll need all the control you can get to survive the competition.

The game's slated for release this fall, and we hope to get our hands on a
previewable by next week. Stay tuned, race fans.
