N3 sound Pops!

Hi All...

Have run N3 with SB Live/Viper 770 Ultra and a TM Nascar Pro for a
while...

Over the holidays... uupgraded to DX7.0a
and to a Logitech Wingman Force Feeback...

Aside from the week implementation of Force Feeback in N3( compared to
GPL! - Papy... please update with a patch! ), I now receive sound pops in
the game itself( seems to go with the engine sounds... but I don't know
for sure ).

Anyone else experiencing?

Any thoughts?

I've had the sound cutting out completely the last week...
I have a Riptide soundcard...the problem seems to have started after the
rollover of Y2K...not sure if it was coincidental or not, the readme file on
N3 says to update drivers, there aren't any updates.  I'm chalking it up to
N3 being a Sierra game.

My fix was to switch from 16 bit sound to 8 bit...sure the sound isn't as
good.  The motor sounds more throaty though...like it has more HP than when
using 16 bit, so I kinda like the 8 bit a little better.  Not to mention
that I'd rather hear lower sound quality than the hissing and screeching
followed by silence...

There's another post on the group that indicates that having your sound card
too close to other PCI devices is causing noise.  I find that hard to
believe as it only seems to be a problem for sierra but yes there are others
out there having the  same problem and we/they don't have any more answers
than U do.

Ya, don't know what to make of that one. My monstersound mx300 soundcard IS
a PCI card.
Go figure.
