Are you sure about this. I am sure I installed GP2 under Win 95 and
it runs in dos just fine. Or is it only the exe's that are different?

This should really surprise no one.

Right until people figure out that they need 3dfx...

Do you have a 3dfx or not?

Look on the GP2 cd, there is only ONE GP2.exe file, this guy is
talking crap. GP2 uses the same file to start the game no matter how
you install it.

Why is it that everything ends up as an argument involving 3DFX and PowerVR
(or any other D3D card).
F1RS is adverstised as working on D3D cards. PowerVR being one of the
better ones to utilise D3D (as well as an increasing number of PowerVR2
specific titles).
If I buy a game that says "D3D card required" on the box and it does not
work properly then the definitive solution is hardly that I should s***my
PowerVR2 card in favour of a 3DFX.
I play Tomraider2 in 1024x768 16bit colour 3D (full screen or window) - and
very smoothly as well - so I know what the card is capable of with a good
direct 3D game (although I admitt that there is more 3D information to
display in a racing sim so resolution and detail would have to be reduced
accoring to CPU/ram).
Even 3DFX users are having problems but just less of them. According to
reports in this NG the game still crashes unpredictably - 3DFX or not.
It does not say anywhere on the box:  "reccomended spec - 3DFX otherwise
this game will run like a slug and crash every 30 minutes".

F1RS dosn't work!

Everything I have seen for this game, including the intro on the
illegal demo says that a 3dfx card is recommended. Albeit I havent
seen the box (I hope to see it on Wednesday, at leats according to the
Oz distributors), so I cant say whats on the box, but anyone whos even
glimpsed at the info on it around the net will know, a 3Dfx card will
make it ROCK. It';s not necesary to run the game, but it sure makes it
look better....
FWIW, I think 3dfx cards are not the be all and end all, but they seem
to work extremely well with almost all types of games like Hexen,
Quake, CPR, F1RS, TOCA, NFS2SE, Tomb Raider, POD, and so on.
