ICR2: edit Michigan track

by Luca Varan » Sat, 01 Feb 1997 04:00:00

Hello,

whenever there is a yellow flag restart at Michigan in ICR2 (possibly also
in other tracks) the computer cars accellerate when the pace car heads for
the pits, and then brake just before the green flag is dropped.
As a consequence I either hit them or fall miserably behind :)

Is there a way to edit the track.txt file to avoid this problem?
Did anyone already tried this and have the necessary values?

Bye and thanks,
Luca

PS: I'd appreciate answers copied via normal email if possible

I'd like to know this too, although I've noticed it at Loudon at the
start of the race, but NOT on restarts.  Damned annoying, but I've gotten
used to it at least.

You should make sure that you have the IndyCar Racing II Patch 1.02
installed.  You can find it at: http://www.theuspits.com/workshop.html

I haven't raced at Michigan for a while, but as I recall it deals
(somewhat) with the restart problem, along with some more serious
deficiencies in the program.  Be sure to read the README.TXT file that
comes with the patch before posting questions regarding installation
to the newsgroup.

Cheers,

Pooch

Papyrus is notoriously bad at patching their way too buggy
products. With ICR2 they released a patch eight - 8 - months
after they released ICR2, and still the product had several bugs.
After Elite - First Encounters, ICR2 is the buggiest release
I know of. The key phrase describing ICR2 is: perforated potential.

Generally Papyrus' products are evaluated by what they lack
rather than what they offer. Papyrus needs to do something
with that. For example, use more time and money.

My policy is that I won't buy their products until they are
reasonably bug free. At Papyrus' current "patch pace" I'll have
to wait another six months to buy NASCAR 2.
I'll hope they surprise me.

Cheers!

Did you ever played Grand Prix Manager 1? After this you will change
your mind :) ICR2 is a great game for is time.  Like N2 will be a great
game for his time in 2 years.  Good race at the Brickyard

What I do is keep my pace when the cars accelerate, then "floor it" when
they brake... you might have to go way high or way low to avoid everyone,
but they will stay in a relatively straight line while you blast by
them... you can get a good 2 second lead by the end of the first lap....

Of course, I realize that's not really "fair", but I'm bad enough that the
other cars catch up eventually and wipe out my advantage.... :-)
