RASCAR Room?

Ok, what room do you guys use when you log on?
Should we decide which room to use? It would be good to sign on and
see if some of my RASCAR mates are signed on. Maybe we could join
races together.
Any ideas?

What we need is a proprietary app that allows us to chat/swap car
files and then join the server when it's available.

Last I heard, Hell was in no immediate danger of freezing over...

I get lost everytime I log in to the Sierra servers.

So yes,  I would like to know where to go to first.

Oddly enough, AOL IM does almost all of that except launch us into the game.

We can transfer files, lock our buddy lists to only those who are part of
RASCAR, and see who is online and who isn't.

Those with modem connections will be at a bit of a disadvantage, but
unfortunately they would be at a disadvantage with any solution :(

AOL IM file transfers are damned fast.  REALLY fast.  I actually keep AIM
running on each machine at my desk at work with a different screen name I
use, and transfer files between them using AIM instead of the Novell
network.  It's a LOT faster.

It has group chat where you can send a group chat request to everyone you
see online to see if someone wants to host a race, etc...

Since AIM screen names are cheap (free) and don't affect anything else it
might be worth looking in to.

Once does have to wonder, though, after a 100 Billion (with a B) loss how
long free AIM will be around.

John, is there any openings in your league? If so I would be interested
in getting involved.

For a chat client, I've been using Trillian. It lets you use
AIM,Yahoo,MSN, and IRC.
I know of a place to get it, ummm really cheaply.  ;-)

But I refuse to use any kind of instant messenger app.

Sure, there's plenty of room.  Just go to the roster page, read the
rules, and if you think you still want to play in our sandbox, pick
an available car number, and then I need to know:

1) Your first and last name
2) The Sierra ID you will be using (preferably some combined form of
your real name)
3) The car number you want.

As far as providing a car file, the paintscheme should at least have
the numbers put in the places a real-life stock car has them.  Beyond
that, I would much prefer that it look like a stockcar, but that's
completely up to you.  No foul/provocative language, and no ***
people pictures, though.  If you need a painscheme, I can provide
one, so don't hesitate to ask.

Yup anything newer than signal flags is just too risky.  I agree 100%
with youse guys.  Stay away from technology, avoid Mrs Field's Cookies,
don't let others get close to you.
It's just one more thing,  I am suprised they chose aol for thier
messenger service, and ms's want't to suck you into their hotmail and .net
structures, but icq(although bloated) seems to be free of most
entanglements.  There is even an icq lite that cuts down on the unwanted
extra features.

ps ..  personally I prefer to time honored way of communicatin' that has
been used out west for 100's of years.  When ever I want someone to pay
attention, I burn dinner...the smoke signals are always good for saying
what's on me mind.

Damn straight.  :)

Nope, sorry, it's almost to the point that I won't install software
that I did not write myself.

Trillian is good, but there are issues transferring files with AIM users.

You should give it a chance.  They definitely solve certain problems.  I
couldn't live without it at work.  I use it for work communications all over
the country and impromptu on-line meetings all the time.

It's not that. Instant messengers are huge security holes because of the
extended functionalities (I was hacked via ICQ). They're also a huge PITA
because every Harry,*** and Tom can come bug you when you're online.

I might check that out.

You know, PMR sets are only $75 a set nowadays.

John, thanks I will check it out. Sorry for asking but I haven't been as
active
in the Ng's lately and I'm not sure what you web site is.
