Well there's 2 of them...
Cart:Precision Racing by Microsoft/TRI and IndyCar Racing 2 (now renamed to
CART Racing) by Sierra/Papyrus.
C:PR is not very popular as a serious racing sim, there's too many bugs and
problem (AI, game engine, etc..). I mean NO tyre temps ? agh. The sound and
sense of speed is the only good points IMHO of it. There's also a track
editor, but it's soo complicated that there's only a handful of people able
to make them (there's little # of user-made tracks).
IndyCar Racing2 has a strong reputation, even if it's a little old (1995).
It has a great website support by users, with plenty of modifications,
converters to add about 40tracks (NR99 and N2 tracks) and it has still an
excellent and very fun simulator. I would suggest it, especially since it's
not very expensive anymore (<20$). It also ships with a great book, but be
sure to buy CART Racing if you want it, not Indycar Racing 2.
