a LONG time ago i got it to run using an add-on program called gpx or
something.  what i do remember is running head to head over a lan was
unplayable. We would have extemely high processer occupation & get out of
synch often.

If he's next door, you're best to use a LAN cable or something (is there a maximum length those cables can be?) for a direct connection. If you're thinking about trying it over the
net, don't bother. It's no good. Also, download GPxPatch, which is available from www.xs4all.nl/~rsdi . I think this helps for network play. I've only tried it on a LAN, and it
worked great for me. Just make sure that both copies of GP3-2000 are *identical*.

g'day scott
thanks for the reply, what we are trying to do is over a lan connection and
if its too far away we would just move 1 of the computers, we have played
midtown madness 2 over the fence (30metre cable)
so what options for lan play as we cannot get it to work at all, the host
machine will come up to a screen with info on it waiting for the other
player but the other machine just cant find the link ??
thanks again

Well, for a start, you have to have both copies of GP3-2000 absolutely identical. If one is patched with something the other doesn't have, it probably won't work.

Try going into the GP3-2000 multiplayer screen, making sure one machine is on host, the other is on join, and that it's "2 players" selected. Make sure that TCP/IP is the selected
network, and check both of your IP addresses under the settings screen. If it still won't work, then I'm really not sure....
