I just bought the official products of this newgroup (GPL, a LWFF, and
CH pedals) and am almost ready to join in all the fun and agony.  I just
need some advice on a few things...

1. I get lots of static (snap cracklely pop) noises from the engine
sounds with my mx300 sound card.  No static in the replays though.
Anyone else have the same problem?

2. I'm finding force-feedback to be a gimmick at this point in time.
I've tried many different setups (including ones from websites and this
newsgroup, and even Slotcar's crazy numbers) and nothing even comes
close to a realistic feeling.  Am I missing something?  Do you guys just
get pleasure from the jolts and vibrations, or do you feel that the
forces help you to drive?

3. Do CH pedals (original, non-pro) come in different sizes?  Because I
think I got ones for little girls.  I didn't see any size choices when I
ordered them online though.  Does this mean a lot of you with these
things are driving with your feet dangling way over the edges?  Ugh.
Maybe you modified them?  I'm not a bigfoot either (although my other
member is still a freakishly humongous monstrosity, go figure). ;)

Thanks for reading this and not responding with any helpful suggestions
whatsoever.  Otherwise thanks a lot!

Hmm weird, as GPL is the most realistic FF, it's actually gives you forces
in the corner of the weight loading/unloading, compared to every other game
who only give bumps and vibrations.  Could you post your FF settings ?

I have very big feet (size 14) and never found them bad.  I have the toes
*** out, but it helps precision I'll say.  I've measured my pedals and
they measure 23centimeters in height from bottom to the top of it.

If you don't like the way, here is a hint.  Turn them 180degrees, and tilt
them.  You'll create a real pedal sensation if you can tweak them (put some
wood under the base, etc..)

you have to disable centering in FF-games and damping effects in your
logitech profiler.

maybe you have just big feet? ;-)
well, I've got size 45 (US: 13) and it fits ... hm, ok, my toes are
*** out a bit ;-)

Well I don't know if comparing GPL to other games with FF is saying much
because the ones I've tried (RC2000, NFS4, SCGT) absolutely suck. :)  I'm still
experimenting with my settings so I don't have a specific setup to post.  I
always leave the centering spring off though.  How about posting your settings
if you please?

Good idea sorta kinda. :)

SNIP

Well, Viper Racing is sorely missing from you list of FF games. Better
FF than GPL, I'd say.

SCGT = weak FF effects, sadly...
NFS4 = gimmick FF, ie. rumble effect when going over wooden bridges
but nothing that aids in driving.
RC2K = can't comment

Viper and GPL are both the cats meow when it comes to FF!

If you are finding the ff in GPL and RC2000 poor, then you must not have
your wheel setup correctly.

I use the same "basic" settings for FF in both RC2000 and GPL, I just use
different MSFF profiles. If this is your wheel too, mail me, and I'll get
you my settings as a start.

Thanks for the offer but I have the LWFF. :)

Ah! Well, luck to you! I tried getting it for over 3 months, but gave in
because of seemingly lousy support here in Norway, and the fact that I never
got it...
Picked up a MSFF off the shelf at the local supermarket...

Hmm, Good luck then:-)
