Well Papyrus didn't fix the problem with the crackling/popping audio. It's
killing the game for me. I had a feeling this was gonna happen since the
demo did the same thing.

I'm running on a P4 1.7, 512 rdram,Creative SB Audigy, nVidia Geforce-3
TI-500 & WIN-XP.

It's always something with a new release.

Are you using some kind of CPU cooling software program?  I had one
running to keep my AMD Athlon XP processor cooler at idle.  When I
deactivated it, the popping sounds went away.

You say 'known bug'. Is this in NASCAR 2002 only?  I have an Audigy and
don't have any 'cracking' sound problems in XP at all, but I haven't run
N2002 or the demo.

I have an Audigy, and I'm getting the crackling/popping sound too - mostly
when I get near a group of other drivers. You're right, very annoying.

I have an Audigy running in XP also, with no issues. Don't have N2002 yet
though.
No problems in any other games, so surely there won't be in N2002.

I've now tried the N2002 demo, and have no problems at all with the sound.
In fact it is very good 5 channel - not many games have 5 channel sound.
