I'll reserve final comments until I get to try it on a road course, I
suck at ovals at the best of times, but the little I've tried it I think
it's a decent improvement overall, nothing revolutionary as far as I can
tell (told you I suck)

It's like buying the latest edition of a long running car model where
the manufacturer has steadily improved the breed without ruining it's
heritage so to speak, yes it's still Papy and yes it's better than the
previous one, I'm buying it and run the 2 road courses until the other
road courses are ported over....:-)

Beers and cheers

The N2003 demo that is going around is a leaked media beta demo. There are
known issues, bugs, and missing
features in the media demo. It seems lots of people think it's the release
demo. Just a heads up that it is NOT! The real thing is being worked on as
we speak.

I have never been much of a setup tweaker, pretty much just used the stock
ones. I took the Jasper setup into NR2002 just to see how it felt. Holy ***
it actualy felt more stable in NR2002 than in NR2003 for me. Has anyone else
tried this? Like I said I'm not much of a set up tech. So anything much more
than tweaking gear ratios and tape has been left alone.

I'm quite the opposite. If I could at all help it, I never used the stock
setups much. The Jasper setups (for Talladega and Michigan), with tape
adjusted to keep from blowing the engine, delivers me the sort of car I'd be
looking for by developing the setup myself. Most impressive.

I like the Jasper ones myself.  I don't really like the stock setups either,
and I don't worth a shit with them either. Which is probably the biggest
reason I don't play NR2002 that much. I have the MOMO wheel and pedals. Now
I know the pedals are not the greatest, but they are not that bad. However
in NR2002 I basically could hardly touch the brakes without instantly
locking the front tires. After trying the Jasper setups in NR2002 I could
actually use the brakes! Of course now my fuel mileage will  be shot in the
ass because I won't be letting off and coasting like I use to. There was
major changes between the 03 Jasper setup and the 02 fast setup. The tire
psi was about 10lbs higher and the front springs were way softer in the
Jasper sets. Hell even if I still suck at 03 I'm hoping that the rest of the
Jasper sets will work as good in 02. lol

Jasper Motorsports, have a car in Cup, and are helping with the game.

Look at car 77 in either 02 or 03.  Its the team that supplied reams of data
to Papy to get the car physics right.

Ditto here... the lock-ups with the NR2002 defaults border on the silly, I
agree.

I usually started out from the baselines as decribed here...

http://www.proshocks.com/rshocks/baseline.htm

And the settings I ended up with are fairly similar to the Jasper ones (but
I like those even better). Quite a testament to the sim, I think.

True, but you can only use the fuel mileage game to get an edge on the AI if
you set 'm up to be your speed. In online racing the fuel calculation bit
usually goes right out the window. Making the tyres last a fuel run is
worthwhile, the other way around I'm not so sure.

Yeah, the Jasper setups really work well. Trouble is... everyone else has
access to them too. <g>

Hell I couldn't run online. I'd get run over coasting into the corners.
hehehehe. The funny part was how hard I could get off the corners compared
to the others.

I'll check that link out, thanks

Ah, thanks.

They do like their setups loose, don't they :)

And what's with the tape?  Are these to be considered Qual setups, not race
setups?
