As header. I'm not a tank fan anyway - but imho - little has improved apart
from graphics.

What's everyone else think?

So far I'd say it's a big improvement.  Nice look at feel to the graphics,
AI is much improved, and cars just feel better, heavier and stick better.
Then again I like NASCAR sims but this certainly feels better than NR2002
IMHO.

IMO the graphics are a big part of the realism. The sun flare and shadows go
along way to giving you that in the***pit feel. I like the adjustable
***pit view, but I wish it went a little wider.  I really like the overlay
for the rearview mirror. With the tinted side windows it makes it easier to
get a quick feel when someone comes up beside you. I'll reserve judgment on
the AI until the full release. I have always thought the AI is better the
fewer cars you have and since there is only 11 cars in the demo we will have
to wait till the full release for a full field. I'm not sold on the look and
feel of the interface yet. I think I like it better, but it could be I was
just tired of the old one. However I could do without the moving crap. I
also like the Jasper setups. They seem to fit me better than the fast ones.
I really wish the games would come with more setups. I'm not the type to
spend hours tweaking setups so have a broader range of setups to start with
is a big plus.

That's my take on it so far. Granted I'm not a fan of pointy car racing on
those cow paths they call tracks.

Long live tank racing, lol

My impression is most everything has been improved _except_ the graphics ;-)
but I think it'll take us a while to recognise and evaluate all the
modifications.

So far I like it. The extra graphics are good but the biggest thing I have
noticed is an increased sense of speed. With the demo, it seems that I am
screaming around Dega. it's probably the graphics...either way, I love it!

Certainly a big improvement.. The lighting and shadows are much
improved.. The incar viewing distance is a nice addition.. The tracks
now model bumps which cause the cars the dance around more.. Makes
Tally more interesting to drive now.. The AI seem more responsive and
concious about whats going on the track..

There is a lot of tweaking that has gone on.. IMHO unless you spent
some time in NASCAR 2002 u might not see a  huge difference...

The Pitcew options are nice.. seeing those pitsigns on pitroad waving
just adds to the immersion factor.. Dirt accumulation on the
windshield very nice.. Also outside objects casting shadows inside the
car is very nice... Love the lense flares....

The adaptive AI will certainly help make Tally/Daytona more
interesting..  I really can't imagine visually this sim looking any
better.. Short of photo realism which is some years away how could you
complain about the graphics...

At this point in the game I don't think u can expect a quantum leap
such as going from NASCAR 2 to NASCAR 4, its about the incremental
steps, minor tweaking..

Perhaps the Westies or some unknow group will raise the bar such as
what DOOM3 is doing in the FPS market.

My only wish is that NR2003 was more open, ala ISI F1200x. The
potential for NR2003 is huge..Running various cars or hell even a
remodeled GPL series , hahha.. With the improved tire and areo
modeling in the NR200x series there is your GPL2 just waiting to be
exposed...

oh well...

I'm still loving GTR2002 though,  it would be amazing to use this
engine and those cars and tracks together..  The sound engine in NR2k3
IMHO is much better then whats  currently in the EA F1200x series...

Are road courses easier to drive, then?  I found Sears Point about
hopeless, because if I get the car leaning the wrong way at the wrong
time.  The new Riverside track is easier for an amateur like me-why
did NASCAR switch?  (while I'm on the topic)

No road courses in the demo but they aren't hard to drive once you learn
them.  They are not tracks you can run wide open around.
NASCAR switched from Riverside since it god dug up and turned into a parking
lot.

NT2003 seemed to have been ahead of its time then, with its more sticky
feel, and more bumpy track :)

.....and cars just feel better, heavier and stick better.

I agree with this caller 'bout the car feeling heavier and sticking
better. Doesn't feel like your driving on ice anymore which I never
thought was realistic. Graphics look excellent on my Radeon 9700
running DX 8.1 Framerate appears to be a little better on my 'puter
with all the same stuff turned on
