ESPN as a media outlet presenting a media movie had more than enough I think
to at least present the facts straight.
Don't get me wrong the movie was good and it made me cry.
But, when you learn that something in the movie is presented as the way it
happen and you find out later that is not the truthful way it happen.
It kinda pisses you off when you were at least expecting to see the truth.

>> I think we're going to like it, but got to keep in mind it'll be a 90
>> minute movie trying to cover Dale's life and done on a budget of only 7
>> million dollars.
How about the glory years with Childress and Kirk Schelmerdine? (Never heard
him mentioned once.) He was as close to Childress as he was to Bonnet, but they
never explored that. How about the difficulty of winning seven championships,
and all the disappointments at the Daytona 500? How about his success as a
businessman and team owner? I realize they can only squeeze so much into 80
minutes or so, but I think they could have done a better job.
Also, I wasn't thrilled with Pepper's performance. Earnhardt was the*** of
the walk, fiesty and in your face, with a penchant for joking around, not the
moody introspective man as portrayed.
YMMV

Movie - Dale Jr. running off and that is how Dale, Sr. met Teresa.... is
that really how it happened? That is not how I've heard it happen. I been
told Sr. met Teresa when she was 16 years old through her family.
And, then meeting that one guy with the big opportunity the same day Sr. met
Teresa...
Movie - Dale Jr. in Victory Lane when his father won the 500
Jr. flipped his Busch car the day before and was all stode up the next day.
Dale Sr. from victory lane brought up about Jr. not being able to be in
victory lane due to being sore from the day before.
And, how was Ralph found... I've now heard three different stories with
that.... Martha finding him in the garage, Martha finding him in the
kitchen, and now the movie Dale Sr. finding him in the garage.
then, another, Dale Jr. being the one that told Sr. of Neil's Death in 1994
when Jr. himself has stated he didn't start going to Daytona at all until
around 1996/1997... And, to think that Sr. was in the motorcoach with
Teresa instead of out on the track practicing like the rest of
drivers....hmmm.. when the rest of the movie racing was coming before his
another wives...
yeah, I have to agree.... being a chick... a chick movie more then a real
docudrama... "docudrama" where one expects events to be presented exactly
like they happened is what this chick was really looking for; History with
acting..... not all the "Hollywood" twisted stuff.. ugh! :-P
after being a fan for 30 years, it was easy to see lots of little details
that was totally messed up.... {-P

"Kerry's response to "3": In an interview with Brandon Mudd and Tony Hubert
from The SpeedZone on 590 The Fan, KFNS, in St. Louis (www.kfns.com), Kerry
Earnhardt said he watched about 20 minutes of the movie "3," the
ESPN-produced bio pic on the life of his father, Dale Earnhardt. Kerry said
he was disappointed with the way the movie portrayed his father and said
most of the scenes he saw were factually inaccurate. "Maybe if you're a race
fan who doesn't know much about the history of the sport or know much about
my dad, they would like it. My dad, and anyone who knew him knows this, was
a very happy man and loved to play jokes on people and have a good time. He
wasn't the person the movie said he was. And there were a lot of things in
that movie that didn't happen or didn't happen the way (the movie depicted
it)." Earnhardt went on to say he was never personally contacted by the
movie's producers and said that if ESPN would have contacted him or other
members of the Earnhardt family, then perhaps the movie would have been more
true to life.(KFNS.com)(12-15-2004)"
