I have a nascar pro wheel and pedals which i use for gpl. Is it real hard to
make a wheel and pedals that is better? I went to walyy's and lews wheels
and saw some plans

I built one from plans at wally's world.  I used plywood cost was about $30
they work well but he wife thought it looked like dodo ( our computer is in
our Dining room) so I got a thrustmaster for my last birthday.  If you have
the tools and ability it is a good project to learn how game controlers
work.

Good Luck

I build mine alost 3 years ago for GP2 and it's still going strong.  I made a
stearing wheel like one seen on Lou's pages.  Took some time to build, but it
looks great.  Performance is good for a small fraction of the cost of the
expensive ones. BTW, I also got an AMD game card, only cost about $25.

Thanks for the info guys. Hey greg could you give me your email? I want to
know if a home made one is better than a thrust master.

Probably not, unless the following criteria are valid:

You have an abundance of hand tools and the ability to use them well
You have a good degree of mechanical aptitude
You understand basic electronic theory
You desire a wheel of significantly better quality but don't want to shell out
big bucks
You have a lot of time
You have a keen interest in the challenge of producing a quality setup

If the only reason you want to build a setup is to save the bucks, and you
aren't looking forward to it as an interesting project, don't bother.  Buy a
$100 setup and go racing.  JMHO.

Brian,

I am not sure if you remember me.  I have raced ya on G Wilson's Ip a few
times.  I have modded my T2 pedals with a Tildon pedal cluster.  It was
really not too hard since I just used the old pots, but it was pain to get
everything right.  I did it since I had two pedal clusters, and on is in my
Solo ll car.  I was trying to get it where both the clusters were the same.
In hindsight it did not make a difference and I would not do it again.  I
would tho rework the steering assembly since the T2 has movement at the
wheel bushing.  I may change it after I get the new column setupin the race
car and know more of what to do to the bushing slop out of it in the real
car.

Sure is Brian, and if i get a good handle on how to build a wheel assembly
that works better i will let ya know.

Hi Brian... I did the same. My wheel is done, and now I'm starting on
the pedals.

It's not too bad if you have access to a table saw and things like that
for the plywood. I've enjoyed it so far, but I just wish I had more time
to do it... it's going slower than I would like because I can only
devote an hour here or there. If you could spend a good three or four
hours at a crack, you could knock it out in a couple of sessions.

I say go for it! (Ian Lake did the same and look how fast he goes in
GPL!)
