Both are FAT32.  Used the Maxtor tools disk that come with the drive.
Didn't try fdisk.  Does that have a problem with the large partitions?
I wouldn't think so, but I've never tried it.

Actually I was referring to hassles some games give you with NTFS.  GPL
& indexing, many have reported problems with The Sims, etc.  And if it's
gonna be a ***-only machine, FAT32 may give him one less headache.

I don't know but you can xcopy the files. "xcopy c:\*.* d:\*.* \e \h" or
something like that. But you can't do it from the partition you boot from,
so you got to have dual boot.
It won't be the same as a fresh install as there was no
restrictions/ownership on files and directories on the FAT32 drive, and I
can't see how XP could be able to recreate these. This might not be a
problem though.
It's also possible to convert a FAT32 drive to NTFS, but it might be a bad
idea. I think the problems some people get with GPL and NTFS is on converted
drives or drives upgraded from Win98.

I have just xcopied my two XP partitions to a new drive, so if you get in
trouble, I might be able to help you. It was not straight forward for me
because there was files I could not access. I don't think this would be a
problem with FAT32.

BTW: Isn't it amusing that Microsoft spellchecker doesn't recognize the
words FAT32 and NTFS?

I have a 60GB drive that's a single partition with XP installed. I FDISKed
with a bootdisk before I installed XP - no problem...

if you plan to run Linux alongside your "other" OS then FAT32
is the way to go. There is support for read access to NTFS
within Linux, but I am not sure about write access.
