Hi Anthony.

Yes not the best eh!. You probably realise this but just in case, you can
configure a button or key so when you press on it it gives your rear view,
not the best eh maybe the old patch in the sky will add one eh :-)

Thanks, I knew about the back view ok. It's only that every time I check
it I end up crashing:-)

Happy new year,

Tony

Well, count your blessing, this game runs slowly as it is, with a rear view
mirror it would be even worse. I kinda like the rear view anyhow, got it set
up as a button on my Formula 1 wheel, very nice.

I find the rear view in TOCA very usable, switching between the views
is fast enough.

If only F1RS had a rear view available, I hate the tiny mirrors :(.

That is why F1RS is a *simulation* and ToCA is an *arcade*.

I have to disagree with you on that one. I would contend that the way
rear-view is simluated in TOCA is actually a fairly reasonable depiction
of what your eyes would see if you scanned the interior and both external
rear vision cars in a car of that type.

The absence of any of your own bodywork/internal cagework in the view
does make it less obstructed than reality but I don't think that you can
slam the "arcade" tag on TOCA for its implementation of rear vision.

Nick,

Your right (again, I agreed with you down the page). It isnt an arcade,
but I would like to see a rear view mirror.

Sure thing, I do agree that the option for an in car rear vision mirror
should be in TOCA (just like I wish the TOCA-type rear view was available
in N2 !).

I do like TOCA a lot but I can see that the things that are missing are
going to see it being a game that has a finite life rather than sims like
N2 and ICR2 that just go on forever.

Given that Codemasters are looking to release a rally sim based on the
same engine sometime mid-year, I guess that we'll never see the
improvements in TOCA that it needs to get better broad support. That's a
real shame.

I guess NASCAR2+The Pits Touring Car patch is out there and although I
haven't tried that route yet, it could offer a longer term option for the
non-open wheel sim racing fraternity (me included !).

Cheers, Nick

Are you sure that Arnoux ever used the mirrors ? I must have missed that
race ;-)

Hi, I have purchased the full version of TOCA, Touring Car Championship
and installed the full version. I have downloaded the new patch from
codemasters
website (patchefg.exe version) and installed it, the problem is that after
i've installed the patch, it seems to have converted it to the network
version and i have only the option to join a session, i cannot start a new
game or continue a save game anymore. I've tried installing the game again
and then
installing the patch but the same problems occurs. I have a 133 pentium,
24 Mb
ram and a diamond viper v330 video card. Someone told me there is a way to
get
around this problem and advised me to come to this newsgroup.
I have emailed codemasters but they don't seem to respond
I hope someone can help me with this problem.

                                        Thanks
