Fluffy, bookmark this site http://www.racesimcentral.net/
and visit all the GPL graphic addon sites.
Visit 'Bruce's stuff' for much-improved faces, new suites, and all
kinds of other great updates. (especially his just released Lotus is
outstanding). Also visit the GPLEA site, JB Vikings site, GPL Addons
site..
with all these updates, you won't reckognize GPL again. Now if someone
would be able to make rain in GPL, we -have- our GPL2.. :)

Well, not unless you're a gambler, then it would make perfect sense ;-)

Nice option, that goes into my tasklist. :)
And not to forget starting in front of the ghost car, in case you're
using a ghost lap from Greger Huttu. ;-) By a couple of minutes on the
Ring, hehe.

Whoah! This is what I want to see.. Randy Cassidy in a 'GPL 2' thread :-)
If only the content went along the lines 'Yep, it's going gold next
week', I'd be real happy :-)

It indeed is interesting to see a Papy person in a GPL2 thread.... I wonder
if the "high downforce test" Dave Kaemmer mentioned in a High Gear interview
(a year ago?) has gone further than just a test :)

Oh well, I'm only daydreaming.....

Problem is, you WOULD crash and he would whizz past you - you would see him
for 0.01 seconds and then he would be gone again, never to be seen :)

Seems a waste of processing power in Gregers Case - but for mortals racing
against a ghost of themselves its a great option

No problem, just add a control to "pull" the ghost back which the
player can assign to a button on his controller. That way you can
see the ghosts driveing line through all the turns by pulling it back
just before each turn.

Ok, nice ideas so far, maybe they'll be in WSC.  But all I really want
from papy these days is a couple simple fixes to improve the overall
GPL experience.  Yes, I just want another small patch.

1)  An official, factory-supported "more cars" patch.  IOW, allow us to
see more cars ahead and behind than the current 4 & 1.  Maybe they could
just change it to 6 & 3, or maybe they could make it adjustable so people
with different bandwidth could tune their client to suit their needs, and
the server would feed them whatever they asked for, up to some limit that
the server owner could set.  I understand they've increased these for N4,
so they have the technology.  Please papy, throw us GPL loyalists a bone!

2)  Fix the flags.  I'm tired of getting blue flags in practice with
nobody behind me, then not getting any flag during the race when I'm
about to be lapped.  This would help a lot.

Others?  I think those two shouldn't be so hard, and would improve the
online experience immensely for me.

Server based grid order, so the league admin. can set starting order.  Would
allow for red flag re-starts, prequalifying, reversed grids etc..

Use the existing carNumber parm in the player.ini to help me figure out
who's who in a league race.  Maybe even put the number on the rear of the
gearbox like IRL does so we can tell who we're following (OK purists won't
like that but there are more visual queues in real racing then sim).

Convex mirrors to make up for lack of peripheral vision, (safer then looking
left/right)

I would like to see some kind of skill-testing question to get
into a VROC race. Also, anyone who qualified outside the 107%
should be automatically kicked. Further, I think that  there
should be a rev limiter at the start of VROC races which
gradually goes away by the end of lap one. Also, nobody should be
allowed to quit a VROC race - once the green drops you either
keep racing or you have to spectate from the pits (or cold boot
your machine). Finally, the game should have a 'rate of closure'
sensor: anyone on a collision course with another driver with
greater than a 20 KPH speed differential should be kicked.

And one more thing. Anyone kicked from a VROC race for committing
any of these blunders should be automatically sent to a special
VROC chatroom called 'Inconsiderate *** Purgatory for
No-Skill Chumps'.

That's for starters..

Classifying slower drivers as "inconsiderate ***s" is pretty
inconsiderate in itself...

If you think you're too good to race with the plebs, join the SRM or
something.
