What do I need to run two joysticks? Some kind of Y-cable? I wonder
if it would work with my PCMCIA gamecard in my notebook. I am not
asking w.r.t. GPL, of course, but I would like to run GP2 and
ICR2 with full analog control, but prefer not to clutter up my
desk (or travel bag) with a whole wheel.

He uses a joystick for steering but with pedals too. Only a liar or
a 1-in-a-million-talented person could drive that fast with just
a joystick all by itself. :)

I think Dave could drive that fast with a paddle from an old Atari
2600...

yeah, he'd be one of those rare people to fit that category. :)
The way i worded it was that almost no one could drive utterly
blindingly fast with just a joystick. Lots of people could however
drive very fast with one, in case there are fastish joystick users
out there inclined to want to hit me if they thought i was insulting
them. :)
