Ok, here is my problem .. first of all I have downloaded the patch from Papy that fixes a few multiplayer issues.
I am trying to get a dedicated N4 server to work and it works -- well sort of.
If I install a clean copy of the game and launch it from the regular executable I can host races ... the catch here is I am behind a firewall. I have all of the ports needed opened up per the information from papy. It works so I figure things are fine here with my network configuration. The key is that I get a message when I launch the race in the Sierra Forums that says
"Your race server appears to be behind a firewall, If no one can connect to your server, check your firewall settings"
Then it works -- and everything is cool.
Now, here is the problem ... as soon as I reconfigure the game to run in Dedicated Server mode and launch from the N4Server.exe things dont work anymore. I can still get into the forum setup a race, etc, but no one can see it. The only thing I can find is that I DO NOT get this message anymore
"Your race server appears to be behind a firewall, If no one can connect to your server, check your firewall settings"
So, what's happening the game is making a change to itself apparently so that it no longer detects the firewall or something ...
Anyone seen this -- any solutions?
