I've just been trying to run a dedicated server on Vroc.  Several minutes
after people join I get a message in chat saying 'the server is
disconnecting from us'.  Does anyone know what this means?  It's not an
actual chat message from the player, but it does originate from their PC, so
it's from their copy of GPL.

The reason I know it's not a chat message from the player is that I've had
the same message (identical) from four different clients before they
disconnected.

I believe they are not disconnecting deliberately, because when i've seen
someone disconnect deliberately, that message does not appear.

I'm on cable modem (512k down / 128 k up) and the dedicated server PC is
pretty fast - p3-750.  I'm getting this with only one player connected, so
it doesn't look like a bandwidth problem.  The cable modem was hosting 6
players fine a few days ago, but it wasn't a dedicated server then.  Ever
since I switched it to dedicated, i've been getting these problems.

Hi Simon,

I can generate this message by letting a client join with wrong settings in
core.ini. For example the server have server_send_size = 100 and the client
have it = 84. So this is the direction you should look for a solution. In
the above situation the client gets a bandwidth mismatch error when it
connects.

It is probably a small error in GPL that the message speaks of the server
disconnecting when in fact it is the client.

I've just been hosting races fine tonight, but that was when I was driving
on the same PC too.  I think this problem only appears as a dedicated
server.  I hope it's the clients deliberately disconnecting.

Anyway, there's no reason why I have to setup a dedicated server anymore,
since it seems my PC is fast enough to race and host, so the problem is
avoided.  Good news :)
