DEMONS Setup Question

Subject: DEMONS Question
Date: Saturday, December 15, 2001 4:25 PM

I just installed a copy of N4 on a Win2k Prof. box. I patched it to the
latest N4 Patch and created a player in the game called PMAL SERVER that
generates a SERVER__PMAL directory in the players directory. All the paths
are in the program correctly with Atlanta scheduled for 20%. I configured
the program not to run N4 minimized and to start immediately when hitting
the start button in the launcher program. When I click start in the launcher
program, the flag beside the server name that shows up turns to yellow and
it says that it will start in one minute from then. But, that never changes.
After the time to start arrives, the program sits there, there is not any
disk activity, the time to start is then moved ahead another minute and this
process repeats itself over and over.

Any pertinent ideas and pertinent suggestions appreciated ...
Phillip

Phillip;
Don't know if this helps, but when I was using DeMONS with N3, it would do
that with the same OS box.  I ended up just starting the race immediately
instead of via timer.

If you downloaded the program yesterday (v0.0.1.2) before 9:30pm last
night, go donload it again.  I left some debugging code in the launcher
that a) wouldn't allow it to launch any races, and b) did not have the
"practice only" feature implemented.

You should probably join the mailing list too.  This is how most issues
are reported and resolved. :)

DEMONS Setup Question

by John » Mon, 17 Dec 2001 22:15:43

DeMONS/2 for N4 is quite a bit different in terms of architecture.
Also, when the launcher displays the launch time, it's not including the
seconds.

So, let's say you have a host configured to use continuous loop timing
set with a one-minute delay.  If you click the START button on the
launcher dialog at 07:15:45, the launcher will display 07:16 as the time
to start, but it won't start until 07:16:45 (one minute after you
clicked the START button).

DeMONS/1 for N3 only controlled a single server per installation of
DeMONS.  Because of this, there was a START NOW button.  I was thinking
of adding that to DeMONS/2 for continuous loop races, but that
restriction seems a little confusing to me, so I decided not to add it.

DEMONS Setup Question

John;
Is there a new link for your site?  The one I have shows the last
update/download for 9/2000, and I assume there's a newer one for N4.

  Thanks.

I thought you were using DeMONS/2 - that's the version designed for N4.
The URL is in my sig below (3rd URL from the top of the sig).  The web
page should be current too.

The mailing list exists so you can ask me questions about DeMONS. Nobody
on the list minds as long as we keep everything civil and strictly on-
topic.
