End of ECCI?

by Larry Lindstro » Sat, 26 Apr 2003 03:05:19

Hi Folks:

I was disappointed to see ECCI stopped selling
into the consumer market a couple of years ago.
I've always cherished my CDS, pop the cover off
and what you see looks like something out of a
formula one car.

But their site said they would continue to
support their products.

I need to replace some buttons on my CDS, but
while their home page graphic shows up, clicking
on the picture to get into the site results in:

404 Not Found

The requested URL /ecci_01.htm was not found on this server.

It's been like this for a couple of days.

I'd also like to get spare pots and springs.

So, is ECCI still supporting their products?
Are there other sources for these components?

                                          Thanks
                                          Larry

They have a new website.
Don't have the link handy, but it's out there. :-)

I have been using similar pedals on my CDS4000 for quite a few years now and
while they don't look like a real car, they perform like one. I had the
original CDS2 pedals when I got this setup and thought the same thing as
you, until I used them. For the cost you will never beat the quality.

End of ECCI?

The proper term is 1949 Tractor Pedals! ;-)

I have a CDS5000 with proper roller pedals.
I used a CDS4000 and didn't like them at all,
they reminded me of the old CH flight pedals
with the rudder locked out. I didn't like my whole
foot having to rest on them.

I need to park my brake foot off to the side when not in use.
Plus needing to reposition my accel foot from time to time.
Using the ankle instead of the articulated part of the foot bothered me.

IMHO the roller type is the most comfortable and controllable.
Even with the pad style, you foot has to slide across the pad area
when depressed, where as the roller type rolls under you foot
without any drag.

But I'm sure you would get used to it after a while. But I much the
prefer my CDS5000.

Very perceptive of you, Adam. The other two makes you mention are
unrealistic too. If you cannot heel and toe with a pedal set, then that
pedal set is unrealistic rubbish, imo. It's quite simple, just model
pedals on the ones in real race cars, then no one can have any
complaints. I find it totally silly that sim racing equipment is
evolving away from the real thing in the way that it is.
