GPL setup question

Hey gang,
I am just starting to get back into GPL. Never really delved to much into
developing setups in my prior time with it, have started tinkering around
tonight. I know this is probably a dumb question or one that has been
covered many times, but I gotta ask anyways - I was adjusting on a Monza
setup I have saved under it's own filename. I make some adjustments, go out
and test them, go pack into the garage, and even if I change setups when I
load the one I am adjusting again, it still shows where I made the
adjustments. I didn't save it, so I would think when I reload the setup it
should restore back to what it was before I started adjusting. At least,
this is the way I have always done my Papyrus Nascar setups.
Do any changes I make to a custom setup remain permanent?

in GPL, you must SAVE YOUR SETUPS under a different name before you modify them

Basically, whenever you hit the green "OK" button, GPL saves the
setup. If you have a setup you want to keep, save it to a different
name, then modify it.

I have a setup in each track called trackname_test.   So for instance
Monza has Monza_test, Spa has Spa_test etc, you get the idea.  Then
whenever I want to make changes to a current setup I save it as my
trackname_test setup first and then make changes to that.   This
guarantees that if I don't like what I've done then I don't have to
remember what I've changed to get it back to how it was because the
original setup is still there under another name.  If, however I do like
what I've done to the xxx_test setup then I resave it under the original
name - you know the one it was called before I copied it to xxx_test.
This way my good setups stay the same unless I find a better setup
whilst testing to replace them with.

No person's opinions can be said to be
more correct than another's, because each is
the sole judge of his or her own experience.

That helps, thanks guys.
I guess N2 and N3 spoiled me by being able to call up the original setup
before changes even after running it on the track.
