:
: There is a historical documentary series on on DSF (German sports TV
: channel) where they show a lot of original footage from different
: racing series of the 50s and 60s. The Coopers are spectacular, but the
: Cortinas even more so, lifting the inner *front* wheel in corners.
: Scary. :)

This is normal.  Cars with lots of rear roll stiffness, like a Golf GTI
or other sporty FWD, will lift their inside rear wheel.  Cars with lots
of front roll stiffness, a good example being racing 911s, lift their
inside front wheel.  playing with the roll stiffness at the ends of
the car gives you a lot of play with the handling behaviour of the car.
For autocrossing, I dialed in tons of rear stiffness to my old Scirocco.
Took away all the FWD understeer, and even gave me lots of traling
throttle oversteer to play with.

To follow up on the thread, one of the joys of the GT game for the
PSX is the run of the mill bargain racers to be found in the used car
section.  For the first five hours of playing, I ignored all the
supercars and progressively dialed in the handling of an old
Corolla (a nostalgic flirt with my first autocrosser)

Oh no Marc!! <G!>
I'm talking about the *real* thing here.... you know.. the Chapparals,
McLaren M8B's, the UOP Shadows and last but not least the all conquring
Porsche 907's and 917's. You know.... plenty of grunt from roaring V8's and
turbo-powered Porsches.... and *almost* no grip at all...  like I said.... -
the *real* thing!!

Why, yes!  ;)

Sounds like a perfect recepie for Can Am ala N2!

BTW, check out a few of the links I placed on TSP, namely some of
the ones listed under favorites.  You'll find some great historical
data on all forms of sportscar racing.  =)

Cheers!

I'd prefer the 2 door Falcons Vs the Torana A9X hatchbacks myself!

They would have to program an unreal level of speed into the Fords to
be able to keep pace with the GMH machines.
Oh for a good A9X or L34....

Times are changing.  More and more software companies are going
to be entering the auto sim market.  And in doing so,will have to
offer new products ei. different types of racing, different eras, and
different cars. Sooner or later, all of our favorite types of racing
and eras will be offered.

Last year if anyone told me that the golden years of trans am
racing;1968-72 would be released in a state of the art sim, I would
have thought them crazy.
