Hello,

>>Good video card? A Trident 1mb? You must be joking mate.

Sorry, I must disagree. I've run GP2 for some weeks with an 1MB ISA card
(considered as fast back then in 1994) and a K6-233, and then with a
Mystique.
Result: with the Mystique I usually can handle 18,2 fps with all details
on, but with the ISA card the limit was about 10 fps! Maybe the Trident
PCI is somewhat faster, but in any case you can accelerate GP2 by buying
a decent video card.

Ciao,

Oliver

I know. What I said was that you will not get as big a performance
boost as you would from investing your money elsewhere. More CPU power
will give a far greater boost than a better video card. Mind you,
anyone using a P166 or above should still be using a 1Mb card like a
Trident - seems a shame to cripple a system in that way.

Cheers!

Not so. Plenty of us have not experienced any crashes whilst racing.

And if it ran fine on *that* machine then you would have no recourse at
all.

Not all PCs are equal. If you are experiencing lots of problems then it
is likely that one or several bits of your hardware are not quite
"standard" enough. Obviously companies should aim to test on as wide a
range of equipment as possible (rather more than, say, Ubisoft did with
F1RS) but it is simply not possible for them to test every cheap graphics
card / 10 quid "Soundblaster compatible" (sic) sounds card, etc.

Cheers,
Richard

 Yes Bubba,
I can report they do run it with all the options turned on, and a couple of
other programs running in the background just to keep things a little bit fair
<ggg.>

When I upgraded my vid card in GP2 I noticed that I could not run
any extra details at the fps setting I use (19.x). But at lower fps I
could run many more details than before. A strange beast that GP2!
